Complete Guide to RIU Santa Fe in Los Cabos, Mexico 🌴

For this trip to Los Cabos, I stayed at RIU Santa Fe. When I booked it, the price was around $250 per night, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and unlimited drinks. The resort is basically like a little vacation village of its own, so it’s a great choice if your plan is to stay by the beach and relax at the hotel.

The hotel is relatively secluded, and most of the entertainment is inside the resort. If you want to take an Uber to downtown, it’s about a 10-minute ride and around $10. An Uber from the airport is approximately $70 and takes about 40 minutes. The hotel also offers free airport transportation, but you need to contact them in advance.

First, the pros 👍

The hotel is huge, and the views are really beautiful. There are multiple swimming pools spread throughout different areas, and the overall resort atmosphere is very strong.

The beach is also beautiful, especially around sunset. There are plenty of great photo spots.

The entire property feels more like a large all-inclusive resort. Once you check in, you could easily spend several days without leaving. You can eat, drink, swim, and sunbathe all within the resort.

Restaurants 🍽️

There are around 6–7 restaurants, with different restaurants opening at different times.

There’s a buffet, as well as specialty restaurants serving steak, Italian food, tacos, and more.

See Photos 2–3 for the restaurant schedules I put together.

Kulinarium is my top recommendation. It feels a little more upscale. I recommend the mixed green salad, which comes with hearts of palm and has a more unique flavor.

The beef tenderloin was pretty good. The lobster rice, however, only came with three pieces of lobster, and the rice was a little too salty.

American Country — I recommend the shrimp tacos.

La Baja California is the buffet restaurant, available for breakfast and dinner. It’s pretty standard as far as buffets go.

There’s also a buffet called Torote right next to the beach, which I actually liked. They have tacos and grilled beef. The grilled beef was a little tough, but next to it there was something that looked like braised beef, which was really tender and delicious. Unfortunately, I only managed to get one piece. When I went back for more, it was already 4 PM and the station had closed. 😂

Carusso serves Italian food and feels a little more upscale, so it’s worth trying.

Sakaru serves Asian food, but I didn’t think it was particularly good. Personally, I also wouldn’t recommend raw food in Mexico because I’d rather avoid the risk of an upset stomach.

Bars 🍹

There are quite a few bars throughout the resort, including pool bars.

The Sports Bar near the entrance was probably my favorite.

The downside 👎

My biggest issue was the food.

I’m someone who really cares about food, and I honestly didn’t find anything that was particularly amazing.

If I had to rate the food out of 5, I’d give it about 2.5/5.

The food here is more typical all-inclusive resort food rather than food from restaurants that are specifically designed around a fine-dining experience.

There are a lot of restaurants and plenty of variety, and some of them are more upscale. But after actually eating there, I felt that the ingredients, presentation, flavor, and overall attention to detail were all fairly average.

There was also one thing that bothered me quite a bit: hygiene in the open-air dining areas.

Because some dining areas are outdoors, I saw pigeons eating directly from guests’ plates, and there were also flies inside the buffet restaurant.

Pools & Resort Map 🏊‍♀️

The swimming pools were pretty nice overall.

I’ve also included the hotel map in Photo 10 so you can get a better idea of the layout before booking.

Overall, I think RIU Santa Fe is a good choice if you’re looking for an all-inclusive beach resort where you can mostly stay on the property and relax.

Just keep your expectations realistic when it comes to the food. If food is a major part of your vacation, this probably wouldn’t be the strongest reason to choose this resort.
